Creating & Protecting IP: Foundation for Creative Ownership and Licensing

Creating & Protecting IP Course

This course equips creators, designers, and innovators with essential knowledge and practical skills to protect, plan, and commercialise their original work through intellectual property (IP). Learners will explore key IP types — such as copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs, and geographical indications — and evaluate their suitability for various creative and commercial assets. Through real-world case studies, market analysis, and guided project work, participants will learn to identify suitable IP protections, apply basic registration and licensing strategies, and develop a personalised IP creation plan, alongside learning to assess market entry opportunities, formulate strategic business goals, and develop adaptation strategies using IP as a strategic tool.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently navigate the evolving digital and AI landscapes, align IP planning with organisational strategy, and create integrated IP plans that support protection, licensing, and future growth. This course is ideal for those seeking to transform their creative output into protected, market-ready, and strategically valuable assets.
