A week of site visits, lectures and fresh ideas for Singapore retail. Here's a look back at Digital Frontiers: Industrial Transformation and Metaverse Applications in China.
From 19 to 25 September, members of the Singapore retail community travelled to Chengdu for Digital Frontiers, a study trip organised by SRA together with SMU Academy and Singapore SingChina International Training Group. Here are the highlights.
Eastern Suburb Memory (Dongjiao Jiyi)

Once an industrial site, Dongjiao Jiyi is now a thriving creative park. Delegates saw how park operations, IP incubation and cultural tourism work together to turn an old space into a destination people keep coming back to.
New Hope Group

As one of China's first national leading enterprises in agricultural retail and industrialisation, New Hope gave us a look at how farm to shelf operations run at massive scale.
Chengdu MixC

A benchmark integrated commercial complex, MixC showed how thoughtful tenant mix and experience design keep a large mall feeling lively.
Chengdu Taikoo Li

Taikoo Li's open air streets blend fashion, food and culture into one of the city's most trend setting districts. It's a place people visit to hang out, not just to shop.
Chengdu SKP

The first smart park luxury complex in Southwest China, SKP puts the mall underground and a park on top. It was a standout for many delegates and a bold take on what luxury retail can look like.
LUXELAKES CPI

At LUXELAKES, park based commerce meets independent brands. Store owners curate their spaces almost like exhibitions, giving each visit a personal, discovery feel.
Chengdu Yinshi Culture

This leading MCN agency in Southwest China shared how brands connect people, products and channels through content, product seeding and livestreaming. A timely look at where social commerce is heading.
Lectures

New retail expert Mason Zheng, former Investment Director at Lianhua Supermarket, closed it by breaking down the business models behind China's new retail wave.
Bringing it home

A big thank you to SMU Academy, SingChina, and every host company that opened its doors to us. And thank you to our delegates for their curiosity and energy throughout the week.
